About the Role

We’re looking for an Area Sales Manager, South East - to take on the well-established area and develop and secure sales across a large profitable region.

You will inherit a significant customer base of Independent Retailers and the goodwill and relationships enjoyed by BMK. Whilst we have a strong and enviable reputation in the market today – there’s no room for complacency. The goal is to grow business with new and existing customers as well as develop new markets with timber merchants, builders and hard flooring contractors. 

As the Retail and Construction market evolves, your role will be to keep at the forefront of this and maximise every opening – spotting and leveraging opportunities to grow sales with existing products and customers plus proactively creating introductions to sell in products and bring new customers on board.

 Feeding knowledge on product and trends into the Head of Business and supply chain to ensure the correct products are sourced and stocks managed according to demand requirements. 

You’ll have all the tools to do the job along with a great delivery support and top-class customer service. From there it’s down to you! 

You’ll need to leverage your commerciality, customer relationship building skills, tenacity and drive to build the brand and grow the business across the South East area of the UK. 


Specifically, you’ll be responsible for

  • Managing the BMK independent retailers, builders and hard flooring specialists to deliver monthly sales revenue targets. 
  • Building relationships with new and existing customers; advising and influencing them on the best solutions to grow BMK sales.
  • Cleverly utilising technical knowledge and solution selling to introduce customers to new products and ranges and drive incremental sales. 
  • Delivering customer pricing and terms to reflect the complexity of products, price points, volumes and credit terms.

About You

We’re looking for a proven Area Sales Manager who shares our passion for the retail and construction markets.

You’ll need to have the gravitas to open doors with new and existing customers and deliver results through your relationship building skills.

A positive can-do attitude to take this excellent product and brand in not only existing, but also new markets to ensure the future success of the business. 

 It’s a big role, covering the South East region, so you’ll be organised, structured and conscientious in how you approach the role ensuring you are spending sufficient time with existing and new customers as well as attending regular team meetings and reporting on the business pipeline and order book. 

In particular you’ll bring:

  • Sales success – in a retail, wholesale or other customer-facing role 
  • An impressive track record of driving sales via a consultative-selling approach. 
  • You’ll ideally have some experience in a floor coverings, DIY or home-related sector. 
  • Strong organisation skills and experience of working with CRM or similar systems. 
  • A strong work ethic and a passion for exploring new opportunities to build business with your customers
  •  A full, clean driving licence
