About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Product and Innovation, the Product Quality and Compliance role is a new introduction to the HFD Tamworth Business. The role is to create a consistent approach to quality management across commission tufted and sourced finished goods within the floor covering business. The role will be responsible for delivering a process to ensure that products are compliant and fit for purpose across both residential and contract markets through various channels to market. The final element of the role is to provide guidance and support the development of sustainable products that work towards the Headlam ESG policy.

  • 1. Quality Management
    • To understand the existing quality process and create a Quality Management Approach that can be rolled out across a diverse supply chain that includes commission manufacturing and the buying of finished goods.
    • To ensure that quality standards are documented and implemented into new product introductions, whether commission manufactured or finished goods.
    • To work collaboratively with manufacturers and suppliers in order to continuously improve the approach to quality across the business.
    • To put in place a system to continuously monitor and report on quality issues within the business
  • 2. Compliance
    • To ensure that the diverse supply chain is compliant with the Headlam ESG Policy
    • To build compliance and testing protocols for individual products in order to comply with both residential and contract market requirements (e.g., wear, Fire Rating etc.)
    • To understand the needs of the different segments within the business with regards to testing and accreditation
    • To develop an approach to compliance that ensures that all new product introductions are appropriately tested and certified
  • 3. Sustainability
    • To understand and integrate ongoing trends in sustainability into the wider product development process
    • To work with manufacturers to push innovation around sustainability and to evaluate opportunities to implement.
    • To maintain an awareness of legislative change and requirements with regards to environmental standards.
Team

Part of the wider Product & innovation team with 3 Product Managers and 1 Senior Design manager responsible for approx. 6,000 SKUS and 500 Ranges

Other Departments

Work cross functionally with Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing and Operations

 

About You

Essential Skills
  • 5+ years’ experience in a commercial environment, degree or further education
  • Textiles experience
  • Technical product development experience
  • Quality management experience
  • Compliance and testing experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable Skills
  • Carpet and Floor Covering Experience
  • Yarn Experience.
  • Familiarity with business improvement methodologies
Qualifications
  • Degree Educated
