Job Description

Headlam is Europe’s leading floorcoverings distributor, providing the channel between suppliers and trade customers of floorcoverings.

Headlam works with suppliers across the globe manufacturing a diverse range of floorcovering products, and provides them with a cost efficient and effective route to market servicing an extensive and diverse customer base

We are looking to appoint a Operations Manager to lead the effective running of warehouse and transport operations at our Regional Distribution facility located in Carryduff.

The role reports to the General Manager Ceco and carries a breadth of responsibility leading the following functions

• Warehouse Operations
• Transport Operations
• Facility Management

Key Areas of Accountability:

Maintain visible leadership to ensure the health and safety of colleagues, customers and visitors, all transport related compliance and regularity controls and all areas affected by the site’s operations are carried out in compliance with the relevant legislation and health and safety guidance

Lead and manage a warehouse team to execute all associated activities operating and embracing:

• Goods-in
• Put away
• Order picking
• Vehicle loading
• Returns management

Ensure controls are in place to minimise stock loss and damage via the deployment of robust cycle counting and perpetual inventory routines.

Lead and Manage a team of drivers and vehicle fleet comprising radial multi drop customer delivery vehicles and overnight inter-depot trunking operations to ensure efficient utilisation aligning capability with cost to serve and ensuring legal compliance.

A solid understanding of distribution systems, processes and operator licencing, Tachograph and Working Time Directive Regulations.

Ensure the overall Ceco facility is managed in terms of the provision all maintenance routines and contracts in accordance with required standards and legal obligations.

Responsible for all costs incurred associated with the execution and provision of warehouse and transportation services including the running costs of the facility itself.

Coach and develop colleagues to ensure individuals are operating at the optimum level and are receiving regular feedback on their performance, and have clear development plans in place.

Responsible for all people and performance related matters within the team.

As a leader of people, be visible, accessible and connected with the site teams to promote a culture which is transparent, supportive and stretching of individual and the team’s potential for the future.

Maintain strong relationships with colleagues on a cross-team basis both in Belfast and other Headlam Group depots.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will have:

• Experience working in a fast-paced warehouse and transport environment
• Knowledge of H&S best practices, policies and procedures
• Managing and leading teams to drive results
• Computer literate and with an understanding of WMS/TMS systems.
• Experience in driving continuous improvement via the use of measures, tracking and KPI’s
• Ability to work under pressure and at pace

Additionally it would be desirable for the candidate to have:

• Supply chain qualification
• Experience of working in carpet/flooring warehouse operations
• Customer facing operational experience
• Change / project management skills
• Experience of performance management practices
• Facility management experience
• CPC qualification
• Previous experience of defining and managing an operating budget
